Company was located in Baltimore, MD. The bill was for a total of $8.00 and is handwritten with paid stamped on it. Price: $6.00 + Shipping.

Picture (409) Billhead I. E. Noyes - Mutton, Lamb, Veal - Oct. 1893.-Condition: Good + Folded. Almost a full sheet. Name of company printed in Dark Print at top of bill. Company was located in Stalls 21 and 23 in the New Faneuil Hall Market in Boston. Many items purchased for a total of $55.30 handwritten. It is stamped approved by the Home for Aged Men! Unusual! Founded in 1860 in Boston as the Home for Aged Men, the first privately supported home in the area for respectable aged and indigent men. First located at 17 South Street in Boston, the Home for Aged Men was moved to 133 West Springfield Street in 1871. In addition to caring for residents of the home, the early organization also offered financial assistance and social services to needy elders. Price: $11.00 + Shipping.

Picture (410) Billhead: Patch & Roberts - Produce Commission Merchants - Apples, Bananas, Oranges, Eggs, Poultry, ETC. - July 19, 1890.-Condition: Good One small brown spot on lower left side on blank part of bill. This bill measures 4" by 11". The Name of the Company and what it sells is in Fancy Dark Print at top of Bill. The Company was located in Boston. The bill was for $7.00 and was handwritten. One receipt from Patch & Roberts is listed in a special collection being held in the E.E. Libbey Papers at Georgetown University Library. One of the owners, Patch A. Warren, was listed in the 1885 Boston Directory, along with the company. Price: $7.50 + Shipping.

Picture (894) January 1, 1907 - Carter, Rice & Co. - Boston. Condition: Fair Page has been folded. It is a receipt for the remittance of $11.58. It looks like something has been spilled on the top part of the paper. Billhead is a complete page. Price: $3.50 + shipping

Picture (1043) November 13, 1923 - Childers Bros. - Wholesale Grocery Brokers - Selma, Alabama - Letterhead. Condition: Good - Page has been folded. Attractive vignette with Title and Seal. The paper has darkened and edges are rough. Full page measuring 8 1/2" by 11". The letter was sent to J. Freeman Suttles in Felix, Alabama. Typed message with hand signature. Letter states they were requested by the Virginia-Carolina Chemical Co. to qhote a price for Phosphate delivery. Hard to find Southern Paper. Price: $4.00 + shipping

Picture (1045) December 9, 1921 - Miles & Co. - Highgrade Fruits, Produce, Vegetables, Flour and Grocers Specialties - DeBois, PA. - Billhead. Condition: Very Good Page has been folded. Beautiful vignette with Title and Illustration of Fruit and Produce. Half page measuring 8 1/4" by 5 1/2". Bill has been typed and was sent to Beadle & Co. in Brockwayville, PA. It was for 1 box of oranges. Price: $7.00 + shipping.

Picture (1431) Circa 1950 Blatz Beer - Milwaukee. Condition: Very Good Letterhead measures 8" by 11". Page has not been used. Has the Blatz symbol on the bottom. Picture (1434) November 6, 1916 - O.H. Willson Company - Produce - Lockport, New York. Condition: Very Good Letterhead measures 8" by 11" and has been folded. Letterhead states that "Apples a Specialty". Has Emblem of company on top. Letter is typed and was sent to Elmer Woods company in Moulton, Iowa. The typing has faded but is readable. The letter states the company will check with who loaded the 2 cars (railroad) of apples (evidently there was a problem) Price: $5.00 + shipping

Picture (1436) July 20, 1916 - W. L. Ward & Sons - Grocers - Selma, Alabama. Condition: Very Good Billhead measures 8" by 7" and has been folded. Has a nice vignette of the Building. Typed letter was sent to Mr. J.F. Suttle in Felix, Alabama, and thanks him for his check on account. Then goes on to say they can ill afford to carry his account and want another check to cover the statement. Interesting Note: J. F. Suttle was part of a Chain Letter that was sent to Felix, Alabama people in 1922. The letter seems to have stopped with his name. The letter started with an American Officer and hoped to circle the world three times. Mr. Suttle was part of the Suttle & Jones Co. in Felix. Price: $6.00 + shipping

Picture (1441) Circa 1960 - Miller High Life - Milwaukee. Condition: Very Good Letterhead measures 7" by 10". Page has not been used. Has colorful illustration of a bottle of beer and glass on a silver tray with the title "The Champagne of Bottle Beer" - on the top. At the bottom has the slogan.."Enjoy Life with Miller High Life". Picture (1458) May 12, 1894 - Evans & Thompson - Meats/Sausages - Bluefield, West Virginia. Condition: Very Good Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 7" and has been folded. Beautiful Vignette of an illustration of farm animals including cows, pigs, and sheep. Paper is pink. Handwritten bill was sent to the Bluefield Inn. A Bluefield Inn was listed in Mercer County in 1896. Price: $14.00 + shipping

Picture (1602) July 22, 1899 - Bryan, Miner & Read - Wholesale Grocers - New Haven, Connecticut. Condition: Very Good Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 7" and has been folded. There is a darkened area on the left of the billhead. There is a beautiful vignette of the building. This is an earlier billhead from the company mentioned in Item 1601. The company was originally known as Bryan, Miner & Read until Mr. Bryan died. This billhead was done before Mr. Bryan passed away. After Mr. Bryan died, it became Miner, Read & Garrette and existed under that name until January 1, 1910. NOTE: Wrinkles and shadows are do to the protective covering. Price: $12.00 + shipping

Picture (1694) February 27, 1913 - Burlington Grocery Co. - Wholesale Grocers - Burlington, Vermont. Condition: Very Good Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 7" and has been folded. Decorative printing at the top. Typed order including cases of Red Karo, B.M. Mustard, Tinned Tacks, Yeast and Macaroni. The bill was made out to H. A. Pond in East Berkshire. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. Handwritten note stating bill was paid. Price: $6.00 + shipping

Pond in East Berkshire. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. The bill is handwritten and was for Oranges and Green Onions. Berry-Hall Co. handled Teas, Coffees, Spices, and Baking Powder. Original name of the company was Miner, Pope & Co. They leased what is now called The Berry Hall Building which was built in 1871. The company changed names many times, and ended up with Berry-Hall Co. as its final name until the company went bankrupt in 1934 shortly after the Great Depression. The building still stands in Burlington. The bill was made out to R.H. Pond in East Berkshire. There is a record of an H. A. Pond who is listed as a Grain Dealer and Shipper in East Berkshire, VT, in 1891. This bill was for Oolong "Maiho" Tea. Price: $5.00 + shipping

Picture (1773) November 26, 1902 - A.H. McLeod Milling Co. - St. Johnsbury, Vermont. Condition: Very Good Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 6 1/2" and has been folded. There is an attractive Vignette with the company name and stating are proprietors of Caledonia Mills, and offer Flour, Grain, and Mill Stuffs. This is a hand written bill for several items. The bill was sent to George Nelson of Nelson and Wallace in East Ryegate, Vt. Price: $8.00 + shipping

Picture (1774) October 5, 1909 - National Biscuit Co. - Cambridgeport, Massachusetts. Condition: Good Plus Billhead measures 8 1/2" by 7" and has been folded. There is a Red Symbol at the top of the page that says In-er Seal. The bill was sent to Nelson and Wallace in East Ryegate, Vermont. The National Biscuit Company resulted from the 1898 merger of the midwestern American Biscuit Co. the the Eastern New York Biscuit Co. After the merger it controlled 114 bakeries and had a capital of $55 million. Also after the merger the company launched a new line of soda crackers that were an unusual octagonal shape and packaged them in a special protective container with a patented "In-er-Seal, (see red symbol at top of Billhead). It was decided to call this new cracker the Uneeda Biscuit which is printed on this billhead. By 1906 the company had won 249 cases of copyright infringement on their cracker name. Picture (1776) June 1, 1895 - T. A. Colleran - Roxbury. Condition: Good Plus Billhead measures 4" by 7" and has been folded. T.A. Colleran was a dealer in Fresh, Salt and Picled Fish. His business was located at1684 Washinton St. near Dale Street. This is a hand written itemized list of server items including a 2 3/4 lb Lobster for 39 cents! There are several Lobsters itemized and other fish which include Mackeral and Cod. This list covered order for Mr. Osgood for the month of April and May. Mr. Osgood has a furniture business in Boston and Mrs. Osgood has a seamstress business. Picture (1779) January 31, 1908 - The Fleischmann Co. - Massachusetts. Condition: Good Billhead measures 6" by 11 1/2" and has been folded. This is an account for the entire month of January. It shows how many packages was ordered on each day of the month. There are several hand stamps on the billhead. There is darkening around the edges and the bottom edge is rough. Charles Fleischmann immigrated from Vienna in 1868 and settled in Cincinnati. In that year he sold the first cake of fresh yeast used in America. In 1870 he organized the Gaff-Fleischmann Company which began in Riverside, Ohio. The first crude yeast plant burned down in 1871. After it was rebuilt the yeast was wrapped in foil. In the early 1880's Mr. Fleischmann took over the Gaff interests and changed the name of the firm to Fleischmann Company. Charles died in 1897. This is a handwritten bill to Nelson & Wallace in Ryegate, Vermont. Armor & Company began in Woodsville around 1905 and closed in 1972.
