Trade Cards

FUN FACTS

Trade cards evolved from the use of formal calling cards. The cards are usually small thin cardboard, extolling the merits ofa a product and bearing the name of the merchant. Very few are dated, however, the prime years for these cards were 1880 to 1893. Trade cards had vanished by 1910. During the late 19th century, children saved and traded these cards like they do with sports cards today.
